Why convert to Autogas?

Why convert to Autogas?

When switching your vehicle or fleet to run on Calor Autogas (automotive liquefied petroleum gas) you want the reassurance of a name you know. A name you can trust. A name like Calor.

  • We’ve been supplying LPG for over 70 years and we are the UK’s leading LPG supplier.

  • We supply LPG to thousands of businesses every day, come rain or shine and our commitment
    to customer support is unequalled.

  • By converting to Autogas you could cut your vehicle fuel bills by up to 40%.¹

  • There are over 1,400 public access Autogas refuelling sites around the UK. Around 150,000 UK
motorists are currently enjoying the environmental benefits and cost savings associated with
    running a vehicle on Autogas.

  • Our unrivalled expertise and experience is as widely recognised as our name. A key member of
important industry forums, we are heavily involved with developing new products and standards.

Chances are, you’re thinking about converting to Autogas because of the money you could
save. In fact in the UK, Autogas typically costs around half the price of petrol and diesel, usually
resulting in annual savings of around 40% in fuel costs.¹ Thousands of pounds can be saved
each year by drivers and fleet operators by switching to Autogas.

In addition to the cost savings, Autogas is also better for the environment as it produces less of
the harmful emissions associated with traditional road fuels such as petrol and diesel.²

Big savings with low emissions

By switching to Autogas you can make a reduced impact on the environment and a big difference to your fuel costs. And because it’s cleaner you’ll find there are financial benefits to be gained elsewhere.

  • Lower emissions – compared to petrol and diesel, Autogas produces far less emissions and has less of an impact on the environment²

    17% less CO2 than petrol
    50% less NOx than petrol
120 times less small particle emissions than diesel

  • Reduction in fuel costs - Autogas is approximately half the cost of petrol and diesel resulting in annual savings of around 40%¹

  • No congestion charge – many LPG vehicles are exempt from the London congestion charge of £8 per day

  • Reduction in company car tax - company vehicles with low CO2 emissions that are registered as bi-fuel are liable to a reduced rate of company car tax.

  • Reduction in road tax – Autogas vehicles could be eligible for lower rates of Vehicle Excise Duty e.g. a 1.8 Vauxhall Vectra is £35 cheaper to tax than the equivalent petrol model.

  • Reduced parking rates – some London boroughs and other local authorities have reduced parking rates for LPG vehicles.

  • Due to its environmental credentials, Autogas enjoys a much lower duty rate compared with traditional road fuels. Furthermore the government has committed to limiting duty rises until 2014
