LPG storage tank
LPG tanks are much stronger and thicker than petrol tanks to withstand the higher pressures and temperatures of LPG.
They are fitted with safety devices such as overfill protection valves, whichstop refuelling at around 85% of the tanks capacity. Tanks are typically mounted in the spare wheel well.
Filler point
The LPG filler is permanently mounted to the vehicle around the same location as the petrol filler.
LPG fill connectors feature one-way safety valves to enable safe and convenient refuelling.
Engine components
When looking under the bonnet of an LPG vehicle, the untrained eye may struggle to notice the subtle additions to the engine. These typically include LPG injectors, fuel lines, vaporizer and electronic control unit (ECU).
Fuel switch and gauge
As most LPG vehicles are dual fuel, they can switch between petrol and LPG at a flick of a switch. On converted vehicles a combined LPG fuel gauge and switch are normally located in a discrete location around the vehicle dash.
In the case of manufacturer supplied LPG vehicles the petrol and LPG gauge are usually combined with a transfer switch located conveniently on the vehicle dashboard.
